I love being organized, but a part of me also loves spontaneity.

Last night, as I was getting ready to close my office, my husband said, “I’d like to take you to breakfast in the morning.” Usually, Saturdays are sleeping in a bit longer, but this was special, so I jumped at the idea of getting up early and heading out for a 7:30 breakfast. He did not tell me where we were going, so that was even more fun!

Surprisingly, at breakfast, I did not take out my phone once! Those who know me know I always take pictures and share the day’s fun events on social media. There was just something special about today. No one knew where we were, and there was no time agenda. We had a great breakfast, ate outside, and enjoyed the cool fresh air of the morning.

Upon arrival home, I opened up my phone at 8:30 a.m. There was a message from a friend about needing to take time for herself. She was interested in our self-care products. I think we all need to step back at times and reassess. Where do we need to slow down a bit? We need to give ourselves a break to be the best version of ourselves for the ones we love.

Take care of yourself first so that you can be there for OTHERS.

I want to challenge you to write a list of 3 things you can be OKAY with to help you care for yourself.

Maybe it’s leaving the laundry for another day, not answering emails, or taking extra time to sit down and enjoy a meal. For me, it was not answering my phone or even looking at it this morning! Putting small boundaries around ourselves is okay and beneficial for our health.

If you only have a few minutes.

Check-in with yourself. Ask yourself how you’re feeling, how you want your day to look, or what’s making you happy.

Consistently get a whole night’s sleep.

Diffuse an essential oil to fill the room with your favorite scent.

Eat the foods that make you feel good.

Write down your thoughts and feelings.

If you have a few hours.

Reread your favorite book or rewatch your favorite movie.

Turn your phone off for an hour, the morning, or the whole day.

Take a nap.

Go for a jog, do yoga, lift weights, and bake a cake. Do whatever makes you happy.

Spend a night alone.
