Today, more Americans believe that climate change is harming people now, or will do so in the near future, and Americans’ understanding of climate change has increased since 2008. The Yale Program on Climate Change Communication’s Climate Change in the American Mind (CCAM) Explorer shares data visualizations of how Americans’ understanding of and attitude towards climate change has changed over time.

The CCAM Explorer shows that more people see global warming as a risk, but the majority still think it will impact other people more than themselves. Users can download the data and explore how attitudes shift over time and compare with demographic data and political beliefs.
