Key takeaways:

  • The Heart in Diabetes CME Conference featured sessions with clinically applicable ways to combat cardiometabolic disease.
  • Effective interventions exist but must be implemented in practice properly.

PHILADELPHIA — In this Healio video exclusive, Mikhail Kosiborod, MD, FACC, FAHA, co-chair of the Heart in Diabetes CME Conference, discusses the accomplishments of the meeting.

Kosiborod, cardiologist at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute and professor of medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, said the meeting content “was so clinically applicable to what we do in practice day and day out” to combat diabetes, obesity, CV risk factors and other cardiometabolic conditions.

“We have amazing tools today, better than ever, to reduce the complications of cardiometabolic disease, and it’s so critically important to make sure that we implement those very efficacious interventions in clinical practice,” he said.
