Greystar Appoints John Wilbeck Head of Greystar Canada
Vancouver – 17 July 2024 – Greystar, a global leader in the investment, development, and management of high-quality rental housing, has announced the appointment John Wilbeck as head of Greystar’s business in Canada. Wilbeck will lead Greystar Canada, overseeing the strategic direction and growth of Greystar’s operations in the Canadian market.
Based in Vancouver, Wilbeck is tasked with expanding Greystar's development and market presence in Canada. He will also ensure the successful execution of business strategies and practices that meet the firm's financial, investment, and operational objectives. Wilbeck will report into David Reid, Senior Managing Director of Development.

Since joining Greystar in 2021, Wilbeck has been responsible for overseeing the company’s expansion into Canada and development projects across the region. Prior to joining Greystar, he served as a Managing Director at Hines where he was responsible for sourcing and executing development projects in Western Canada, including leading the development activities on approximately 1,000 units and over one million square feet of office space development.

Currently, Greystar is constructing a 593-unit multifamily rental project in University Heights, featuring over 110,000 square feet of grocery-anchored retail space on the ground level. This project aims to provide much-needed rental housing for the Saanich, BC market. Additionally, Greystar is in predevelopment and has submitted zoning applications on two additional urban sites in Vancouver.
Wilbeck holds bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and applied mathematics from Columbia University, and
holds a Master’s of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern
University.
