Global tech outage: Multiple flights cancelled; Hyderabad airport issues advisory, 23 cancellations so far
Following the widespread Microsoft outage that disrupted flights, banks, media outlets and companies around the world on Friday (July 18), multiple airports reported cancellation of flights leading to passenger inconvenience.

Escalating disruptions continued hours after the tech giant said it was gradually fixing issues affecting access to Microsoft 365 apps and services.

DownDectector, which tracks user-reported internet outages, recorded growing outages in services at Visa, ADT security and Amazon, and airlines including American Airlines and Delta in the US.

Microsoft 365 posted on X that the company was “working on rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate impact in a more expedient fashion” and that they were “observing a positive trend in service availability.” The company did not respond to a request for comment. It did not explain the cause of the outage further.

Meanwhile, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Hyderabad, run by GMR Group shared an advisory saying that due to the technical outage, services of some airlines had been impacted.
