The United States Hockey League has announced that John Grandt has been named USHL Director of Officials.

“I couldn’t be more honored to return to the USHL as the Director of Officials,” said Grandt, a native of Denver, Colo.  “The USHL was instrumental in my own path to becoming an NHL official, so this is a full-circle moment for me. I’m committed to making the USHL officiating staff the premier league for aspiring high-level officials.”

Grandt, who served as a linesman in more than 200 games in the National Hockey League from 2012-17, officiated in the USHL for two seasons (2007-09) and also has extensive experience working in the NCAA and the American Hockey League.

Grandt’s USA Hockey experience includes an assignment as Colorado’s Assistant State Supervisor Advancement and Development, serving as an instructor for the Rocky Mountain District Advance Officiating Experience and has worked as the Lead Instructor - USA Hockey Level 4 Seminar. He also has served as an instructor at Jay Sharrers Officiating School.

“We are equally honored to have John return to the USHL in this new and vital role for the League,” said Glenn Hefferan, USHL President and Commissioner. “He brings a wealth of experience from the USHL to the NHL, as well as his professional experience away from the game. The league’s officiating staff is in excellent hands.”

Mr. Grandt, who resides in Denver with his wife Alycia and two children (Kaitlyn and Caleb), begins his role with the USHL immediately and will be attending the Fall Classic this week in Pittsburgh, Pa., where all sixteen USHL teams will face off in regular-season action at the UMPC Lemieux Sports Complex.
