1 in 5 workers are now using an AI tool as part of their role, meaning 80% have still not used AI in the workplace…yet. However, it does seem likely that there will be an upward trend of AI usage in the workplace in 2024/25.
AI has come a long way in recent years and we're now seeing it being used in a variety of industries, from healthcare and finance to manufacturing and logistics. But what exactly is AI, and how can it benefit your business?
At its core, AI refers to the ability of machines to perform tasks that would typically require human intelligence, such as learning, problem-solving and decision-making. This can range from simple tasks like data entry and analysis to more complex processes like image and speech recognition.
AI can also help you/your company make better decisions by providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis. For example, an AI-powered algorithm can analyse customer behaviour and provide personalised recommendations for products or services that they may be interested in.
But perhaps most importantly, AI can help you/your company stay ahead of the competition by providing a competitive edge. By using AI to optimise your operations and gain insights into market trends, you can make smarter decisions and respond more quickly to changing market conditions.
Many employers and employees believe that AI tools will have a positive impact on their job, as it presents the opportunity for workers and businesses to save time and energy spent on monotonous or time-consuming tasks, thereby increasing efficiency in the workplace.
The current stumbling block to get over, evolves around the fact many people don’t feel comfortable in their own capability to use AI in the workplace.
Is there a need for employers to support their employees more in upskilling in relation to AI usage?
Interestingly, 57% of employers surveyed throughout the UK, expect to allow their staff to use AI in the future but will monitor its usage. However, 22% of employers expect to ban the use of AI in the future!
It is important for businesses to understand the advancements in AI technology and the implications it can have on the business.
Of course, implementing AI in a business isn't always easy. It requires significant investment in technology, as well as the expertise to build and maintain AI systems. But with the right strategy and approach, many businesses can benefit from AI.
