Multimodal AI is no longer science fiction; it's the future of marketing. The marketing landscape is constantly evolving, and keeping pace with the latest trends is crucial for success. I stumbled upon this concept a few too many times to not explore futher. Multimodal AI is one of the most exciting advancements is the rise of AI marketing. Marketing professionals like you and I are increasingly turning to AI tools to automate tasks, gain deeper customer insights, personalise marketing campaigns and go beyond human capabilities. But the future lies not just in singular AI applications, but in the power of multimodal AI.


What is Multimodal AI?

As per the information I gathered, here is a simple definition - Traditional AI often focuses on a single type of data, such as text or images. Multimodal AI, on the other hand, is a cutting-edge technology that can process and understand information from multiple sources simultaneously. This allows it to create a richer and more nuanced understanding of the world around us. Imagine an AI that can analyse not just the words in a customer review, but also the tone of voice and facial expressions in a video review.

  • One very good example is Synthesia. Imagine creating unique video ads for every customer segment. Synthesia is a powerful multimodal AI tool that allows you to do just that. Simply provide a text script, and Synthesia generates realistic AI-powered videos featuring various actors delivering your message. This enables marketers to personalise video ads based on demographics, interests, or even languages, for a truly targeted marketing approach.

  • Another example I found was the interactive product demos that can be generated with Amazon Sumerian. This platform leverages AR/VR technology to create immersive product demos that go far beyond static images or videos. These demos allow potential customers to virtually interact with products in a simulated environment. For example, a furniture company could use Sumerian to create a demo where customers can virtually place furniture pieces in their own homes using their smartphones or tablets. This immersive experience can significantly boost engagement and product understanding.

  • My personal favourite example is ShortlyAI. Creating high-quality content can be time-consuming and expensive. ShortlyAI tackles this challenge with the power of multimodal AI.   • Augmented Reality Experiences: Multimodal AI can power interactive AR experiences that blur the lines between the physical and digital worlds, allowing customers to virtually interact with products. And we have already started experiencing this today.

  • Predictive Marketing: AI will become even more adept at predicting customer behaviour, allowing marketers to anticipate needs and deliver personalised offers at the perfect moment. Reading customers' mind is not just a dream anymore!
