Tempur Sealy Expands Grant: BeWell in School

At Tempur Sealy, we pride ourselves on being passionate people – about making a difference in the sleep of millions, investing in the development of our employees, and continuing to make a difference for future generations. We recognize the importance of fostering our youth, providing them with resources to achieve the best versions of themselves so they can make a difference in the world around them. With that mindset, the Tempur Sealy Foundation is excited to continue a partnership with BeWell in School, an organization dedicated to teaching students practical strategies for self-regulation, proactive behavior management approaches, and mindfulness as they tackle the classroom head-on.

BeWell seeks to provide schools and students with appropriate resources to tackle the needs of a diverse population and address adversities children face, which can ultimately disrupt their experience in the classroom. Through these efforts, BeWell desires to equip students with a safe space and strategies to work through challenges, practice breathing and movement, and more to allow them to navigate stressful situations better and, ultimately, disciplinary issues. As a result of their Pilot Program in Nashville, BeWell has experienced impacts, including a decline in disciplinary referrals, increased time-on-task from students, improved test scores, student recognition for positive behavior, and a boost in teacher morale. In 2022, The Tempur Sealy Foundation provided funding to bring the BeWell in School Program to Mary Todd Elementary School in Lexington, Kentucky. Earlier this year, the Foundation granted further support for the program, funding an additional $50K to expand the BeWell program to four additional schools in the area.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to support BeWell as they continue to live out their mission and develop the next generation. You can learn more about BeWell and its efforts here.
