Sizigi: A New Approach to the Hiring Process

When students think of job searching, the hiring process, and resumes, many picture a confusing and frustrating system. Like many other students and recent graduates, I have found that navigating this landscape can be extremely difficult, especially since a one page resume makes it challenging for one to showcase their talents. Below is a collage video that my fellow interns and I made regarding our experiences with the general internship recruiting processes for US companies, as well as our experiences as interns. I personally think that this video is a solid reflection of candidates’ current opinions regarding the hiring process:

Sizigi is a digital platform, that focuses on the three aspects of the hiring process – recruiting, interviewing and hiring. Essentially, Sizigi’s digital portfolio platform outsources the resume by allowing users to showcase their skills, knowledge and accomplishments, in one cohesive dashboard. There is no limit as to how much content that one can upload – as opposed to a resume, in which many accomplishments are confined into one-line items, on a single page. Personally, I have found that the platform gives me the agency to fully highlight my story, roadmap and abilities on a dynamic webpage. Recruiters can view these portfolios, and then can use the criteria to make a decision about interviewing and ultimately hiring candidates.

Although Sizigi is a new company, I believe that its services will become much more widely used in the near future, especially during the pandemic, as many internships and recruiting processes have moved entirely online. With this focus shifting online, I think that an additional emphasis will be placed on digital portfolios and video interviewing. Take Zoom Video Communications, for example, an online video communications platform; many people had not heard about Zoom prior to the pandemic, and now nearly all students and professionals have used it. Therefore, because of this changing landscape, I think that Sizigi’s services will become very important in the hiring process.

Interning at Sizigi has been extremely valuable for my career development thus far. Through my work, I have greatly expanded my knowledge of finance, fundraising, operations, and pricing strategies. I am also learning much about startups and business in general, based on the fact that Sizigi is a new company, which offers a relatively unprecedented combination of services.
