Six tips for getting the most out of the Teach Queensland Career Fair

If you’re wondering about how to secure your first or next teaching role, you’ll want to come to our next Teach Queensland Career Fair.

To get the most out of the event, here are our top Career Fair tips.

1. Prepare your employment application

The Teach Queensland Career Fair is all about finding you the right teaching opportunity. If you’re a preservice teacher in your final year of study you can submit your application for employment to the Teacher Application Centre right now. Be a step ahead of the crowd!

You might also like to load your CV onto your smartphone so you can bring it with you and email it to school leaders or recruiters that you meet on the day.

2. Bookmark seminar sessions

Check out our seminar program where our expert presenters cover a range of topics including the application for teacher employment process, the financial, professional and personal benefits of teaching in rural and remote communities.

Plan your time at the career fair to ensure you don't miss the exhibitors you’d like to meet and the seminar sessions you'd like to attend.

3. Join the Facebook event page

Follow us on the Teach Queensland Career Fair Facebook event page  to stay in the loop about event updates in the lead-up to the fair.

4. Prepare your introduction

Prepare to introduce yourself to the school leaders, early career teachers and recruiters who will be there on the day.

Dress well, smile and make eye contact with the people you introduce yourself to. Be confident in yourself and know that the exhibitors and recruiters you’ll meet at the Career Fair want to help to find the right job for you!

5. Be open to new ideas

Every Queensland education region will be represented at the Teach Queensland Career Fair. You may hear about a career opportunity that you haven't considered before.

Keep your mind open to the diverse teaching and lifestyle opportunities available right across the state.

6. Follow up after the event

Collect any printed information that is available to you, as well as the contact details of the exhibitors and school leaders you connect with on the day.

If you have been made a job offer or discussed a specific opportunity with one (or more) of our recruiters or school leaders, you will be contacted by our recruitment team to further discuss these opportunities, or to confirm your location and teaching preferences to ensure that you can be considered for relevant current or future vacancies.

If you have shared your details with our recruiters and exhibitors, they may also contact you to provide further information about relevant opportunities, support and services.

Don’t forget to submit your application for teacher employment and your application for teacher registration!

See you there!

Don’t forget to tag #teachqld in your social media posts so we can follow your teaching journey before, during and after the event.

We look forward to seeing you there!
