Big Issue Group calls on organisations to back a new specialist recruitment service
Big Issue Group is calling on businesses to back a new UK wide recruitment service called ‘Big Issue Recruit’. The service offers people who are further from the labour market access to their desired job roles by pairing them with personal Job Coaches.
"There is an urgent need for an upskilled workforce. Big Issue Recruit (BIR), which aims to bring people from a more diverse range of backgrounds into the job market, is a new solution to this crisis."
Government to ‘make it easier’ for overseas nurses to work in the UK
The move follows a pledge by new Health Secretary Steve Barclay to bolster the number of nurses working across the NHS by supercharging international recruitment, and the news that the number of unfilled nursing vacancies across the NHS in England has risen to a massive 47,000.
Labour Market Tracker: New jobs postings fall back to levels last seen in April 2022
There were 1.45 million active job adverts in the UK – lower than any point since the pandemic, but still a high level relative to pre-pandemic.
Neil Carberry, CE of the REC, said: “Weekly jobs postings have returned to levels last seen in April this year. Employer demand is still significant, but a cooling-off is no surprise. With inflation high, and employers concerned about the economic picture, some moderation in hiring from the sugar rush of the past year was predictable."
Fossil fuel recruiters banned from UK university careers service
Fossil fuel companies have been banned from recruiting students through a university careers service for the first time. The new policy from Birkbeck, University of London, states its careers service “will not hold relationships of any kind with oil, gas or mining companies”.
Modern jobs board meets recruitment market needs
A new recruitment website has been launched by Tindle Newspapers Ltd, publisher of the Cambrian News, to give clients access to the latest technology and reach engaged audiences in a cost-effective way.
"Our team launched the website earlier this month to modernise our online offering in the competitive digital jobs marketplace. The new platform allows local recruiters to take advantage of powerful job board technology and reach both local and wider audiences at competitive rates."
