Scaling electric freight: Strategies for success, intelligent electrification, and Carlsberg's electric journey

Scaling electric freight: Strategies for success, intelligent electrification, and Carlsberg's electric journey

In this newsletter edition, we explore the key success factors for cost-effective electrification, the role of intelligence and digital capabilities in maximizing efficiency, and how Carlsberg Sweden is successfully expanding its electric operations together with Einride.

Successfully scaling up electric freight operations

Transitioning to sustainable road freight isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. The best approach to electrification varies greatly from one business to another. So, where do you start? Which routes should you electrify first? How do you navigate the technological complexities and infrastructure investments?

In our article, we explore the key success factors – both short and long term – to scaling up electric freight operations in a cost-effective way.

Maximizing the efficiency of electric freight

Achieving sustainable and cost-efficient electric freight operations requires extensive data and digital capabilities. Learn how intelligent electrification increases both asset and capacity utilization, and discover real case examples of how Einride’s customers have experienced this first-hand – moving an equivalent volume of goods using fewer vehicles.

Carlsberg – Scaling and maximizing electric operations in Sweden

Together with Einride, Carlsberg Sweden started electrifying its heavy-duty freight operations in 2022 and is now scaling up. Following a successful first wave focused on internal flows, the expansion will continue in early 2025 with the addition of eight trucks for external flows.

“After this deployment, around 20% of our road transport in Sweden will be electrified. For this wave, Einride has put in place a very packed and detailed schedule to optimize truck loading and ensure high utilization of assets – for both trucks and chargers – all enabled by the freight platform,” says Andreas Andersson, Head of Transportation at Carlsberg Sweden.
