Qui custodiet ipsos custodes

Qui custodiet ipsos custodes

I am going to have to weigh in on this subject. I must applaud those who view themselves as the watchmen of our respective governments and their agencies, especially the armed forces of our nations. The Constitution of the United States only applies to the Citizens of the States that have joined this Union. However, I strongly believe that the rights of the people that have been explicitly defined in this document should apply to all peoples of all nations. The Freedom of Speech, The Freedom of Religion, The Freedom of the Press, The Freedom to Peaceably Assemble.

The RI\ight to Bear Arms is a guarantee that should a tyrannical government somehow gain power in this nation, the citizenry will be able to defend themselves, indeed depose the tyrants and reestablish Democracy and Liberty to the people. WE THE PEOPLE are the authority. Government is intended to serve them not the other way around.

All this having been said, the Press, who was supposed to keep watch on the government has failed in its responsibility to the PEOPLE. They have become the tools of special interests, to promote those special interests and in so doing have become biased, and in many cases, untrue. They thrive on tearing apart our democracy by dividing our house into constantly embittered classes and sub-classes, manipulating the information that is vital for a free society to exist. They construct lies out of half truths, and expect us to believe it is truth. They have failed.

And so we must rely on people who watch from outside this nest of lying serpents. Unfortunately, they too have their own agendas, which distorts the truth in its own way. They serve only to criticize behavior which should not be allowed. I'm OK with that. But then they neglect to praise behavior which should be encouraged. Always the Negative, never the Positive. They make assumptions based upon bias, anger, and ignorance, and espouse them as fact.

To those who accuse a people of glorifying war through computer games, is too not see that there are those who play games, and then there are those who serve, not out of any sense of glory but with a sense of duty. Please get your facts straight before making false judgements upon a persons character. And keep in mind that there are governments that censor information coming in to the people of those countries. They do not need the half truth to defend their lies.

A final word. If you want to be ignored, continue as you are, always negative. If you want to be rec9gnized as fair and unbiased, you might want to be compassionate and positive in your critiques. Cruel cuts at a persons character will not induce them to listen. On the contrary, it brings down a wall of distrust through which there can be no communication. Kindness never hurts.

Jeff Porterfield --- Interesting question. The clock might be ticking for the empire; but remember: “Brutus is an honorable man..."

@Frank McMullan, Ultimately it falls upon us, We The People. The Preamble to the United States is very explicit that the authority to govern comes from The People.
