Q&A with our Business Process and Project Management Intern!

Meet our intern, Vishakha Singh, who joined us as our Business Process and Project Management Intern supporting our Retail Licensed Brand, Target Optical and Pearle Vision. This summer, she worked at our bustling New York City office alongside our Corporate Teams to create moments that leave our customers and patients saying "Wow!"

We had the exciting opportunity to sit down with Vishakha to learn more about her10-week internship experience at EssilorLuxottica on the Retail Licensed Brand Team. She shared what made her interested in joining our team, the projects she was able to make an impact on, and her favorite aspects of the program!

What attracted you to apply for an internship with Target Optical, Pearle Vision and EssilorLuxottica?

I was initially drawn to the Project Management internship with Retail Licensed Brands (Target Optical & Pearle Vision) because of my passion for retail and the opportunity to leverage my skill set in technology space and Project Management. As I researched EssilorLuxottica, I was inspired by the company's core values, particularly the tagline "See More. Be More," which deeply resonates with my personal commitment to seeking opportunities and continuous growth.

I was excited about the chance to be a part of the RLB team, focusing on enhancing customer experiences. I have always been fascinated by how strategy and processes developed behind the scenes can significantly transform a customer's retail journey and wanted to contribute to that positive impact.

What types of project(s) did you get to work on this summer?

This summer, I had the opportunity to work on several exciting projects. One of the highlights was creating an NPS dashboard to capture the voice of the customer. Previously, we had received customer comments but lacked an automated, consistent method to report these insights to larger groups, which helped showcase the incredible work of our store associates while also identifying areas for improvement.

Additionally, I focused on data-driven storytelling by analyzing key metrics for a pilot project and identifying issues related to underperforming KPIs. I also contributed to determining the scope and objectives for one of our OMNI initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and effectiveness.

What types of skills did you gain during your internship?

During my internship, I gained several valuable skills. First, I developed strong analytical skills by creating the NPS dashboard and engaging in data-driven storytelling. This experience taught me how to interpret data effectively and identify key metrics that drive performance.

I also polished my project management skills, particularly in determining project scopes and objectives while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This involved enhancing my communication and teamwork abilities. Working on creating reports and presentations for the internal team meetings, helped me in refining my presentation skills.

Additionally, I gained insights into customer experience strategies. Overall, this internship has greatly enriched my skill set and deepened my understanding of the retail landscape.

What was your experience at our OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation EssilorLuxottica Foundation clinic?

My experience at the OneSight clinic in Fishkill was profoundly moving. Witnessing children who had struggled with vision issues happily selecting their frames touched my heart. OneSight’s impactful work brought smiles to these kids’ faces, and I am proud to have been part of this visit.

What was your favorite part of your internship?

My favorite part of the internship was experiencing a transformative shift in my perception of the eye care industry. Before this opportunity, I viewed items like sunglasses and optical glasses merely as products, but my time with EssilorLuxottica helped me appreciate them as vital components of eye care initiatives. Learning about iconic brands like Ray-Ban and Oakley, as well as the diverse assortment we offer, was truly eye-opening.

Being part of an organization where people genuinely embody the company’s values made the experience even more fulfilling. It was exciting to contribute to a mission that goes beyond just selling products and truly impacts people's lives.
