New Year Plan. Should I have one?

Last week we posted a poll about planning the new year. Here are the results.

  • 61% said they just go with the flow
  • 22% said they have resolutions and plan according to those
  • 17% said they plan for the entire year

Planning does not necessarily mean that you need to create a fancy calendar or spend hours writing down your resolutions. It is about having a sharp vision of where and how you see yourself doing this year. So, in a way, we all have a plan. We would like to share 3 simple tips to plan for a successful year:

  1. Review the past year and answer these questions:
  • Did you meet your goals? Make a list of what actions made you successful.
  • Are you happy, satisfied with your accomplishments last year? If your answer is no, think about what lead you to missing those goals and change your strategy.
  1. Break down your goals for this year into short tasks that can be easily accomplished. For example, if you plan to buy a new house in a year, start a weekly/monthly savings plan. If you want to have a healthier lifestyle, start with small steps that you will be consistent with. Once you completed it, move on to the next step.
  2. Think about the bigger picture. By completing these shorter tasks, you are one step closer to the main goal.

Thinking, planning, and holding yourself accountable will positively impact your life with accomplishments, personally and in your career. You just might have that new home, car, or promotion sooner than you think!

Enjoy your journey!
