As part of National Career Development Month, we’re talking to our leaders about how they’ve developed and grown throughout their Codex journey! Continuing this week, we talk to Romone, our SaaS Europe Team leader… 

Romone was teaching maths to underprivileged children in college before he turned down a university scholarship to instead join Codex. Romone had volunteered in business entrepreneurship in Africa providing customers with loans, where he discovered his skill in a customer-facing line of work. 

After a few months working at Codex, Romone had secured his first deal and was swiftly promoted after an immediate recognition of his talent. From there, Romone flew along the promotion pathway and doesn’t plan on stopping at team leader – he has his eye on a commercial manager role next! 

Romone credits Codex for providing him with the opportunity to experiment with and develop his talents. Upon joining the company Romone showed a persistent willing to use his own initiative to get things done, a trait that was respected so much by the Managing Director, Mike Jones, that he was given the flexibility and freedom in the company to lead his own brand-new team. Romone is grateful for the trust that Mike has in him, and this trust spurs him on to succeed every day. 

The Codex team believe in recognising and praising accomplishments in the workplace and aim to always keep employee’s progression rolling, Romone says this encourages him in his work enormously, but also that he has huge admiration for his directors, Jess and Mike. Inspiration certainly helps but Romone is already an iron-willed hard worker. He describes himself as a ‘tunnel visioned risk taker’, characteristics he believes aid in his many achievements, both personally and within Codex. 

Romone’s top tip working in recruitment: Stick to your own timeline and don’t detract from your path, don’t concern yourself with what others around you are doing – remember everyone has their own techniques and progression rates.
