🤼 Fanatics Takes Over WWE Collectibles License From Panini
WWE has terminated its partnership with trading card company Panini, alleging a breach of contract. This move comes despite the agreement having more than two years left. As a result, Fanatics, which had a deal with WWE set to begin in 2026, is now expected to receive the rights to sell WWE trading cards immediately. This comes after Fanatics recently secured the rights for the NFLPA, which was originally held by Panini.
Most recently, Panini has won a legal battle as a New York judge denied WWE's request for a temporary restraining order that sought to prevent Panini from producing WWE trading cards.
While Panini has secured this win, this is one part of a bigger legal dispute with Fanatics that could have significant implications for the trading card industry and Panini's business.
💠 Pharrell’s Auction House JOOPITER Sells Nike SB Dunk Samples
Pharrell's JOOPITER auction house is featuring three rare prototypes of the Supreme x Nike SB Dunk High sneakers in its fifth sale. These shoes showcase early design concepts of the well known collaboration, with mid-panels featuring gilded Nike branding instead of gold stars.
JOOPITER is a relatively new auction house that has hosted several sales of culturally relevant collectibles from both Pharrell’s own collection and other curators. Given Pharrell’s connection to the world of fashion and sneakers, this latest auction might signal that JOOPITER wants to play a bigger role in facilitating the sale of rare, valuable sneakers.
🐵 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs Working With BAPE Streetwear
The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT company has announced a collaboration with iconic Japanese streetwear brand BAPE. The collaboration will feature a limited quantity collection that will initially be available for BAYC NFT holders only and then eventually the broader public. The specific items have not yet been specified but people are expecting a variety of apparel and perhaps some accompanying digital collectibles.
By working with BAPE, BAYC is moving further into the world of fashion, which helps set an example for more NFT projects to build partnerships with streetwear brands.
