Introductions Please -Meet the Lowe's Talent Acquisition Team

One of the many things I love about working at Lowe’s is our Talent Acquisition team. I wanted to share our team with you and give you the opportunity to get to know them. If you have ever looked for a career opportunity at Lowe’s, then chances are, you may have interacted with one of our Talent Acquisition team members. If not, hopefully you will have an opportunity to do so in the future. This is who we are, what we do, and how we “help people love where they live”.

Who are we?

The intent behind the entire Lowe’s Talent Acquisition Writer’s series was to pull back the curtain and have the reader get to know the Lowe’s recruiters through knowledge share and open dialogue.

As a point of reference, several months ago my colleague wrote an article on the Black hole which shed light on how to capture a recruiter’s attention with tips for getting your resume noticed. So now, I want to go one step further and introduce you to the Lowe’s Talent Acquisition team.

I begin with our recruiters on the team, these are the individuals who are reviewing your resume and matching up talent from the candidate to the role. Our recruiting team is comprised of several sub teams that offer specialized support. We have a corporate recruiting team, handling all of our corporate and corporate field based roles and our Information Technology recruiting team for all of our Information Technology roles. Both of these teams are aligned to specific business units within the organization. For example, I am on the corporate recruiting team and I support both Merchandising and Customer Experience. Supporting our internship program and college hires, we have our college recruiting team. Then an executive recruiting team supports our Vice President and higher roles within Lowe’s. We have a centralized recruiting team who support our in home sales store based positions and a dedicated recruiting team supporting the Lowe’s contact centers and central production office.

Each of these teams reports directly to a Talent Acquisition Manager who leads and develops their respective teams. The Talent Acquisition Manager shares their expertise with the team, celebrates their successes, removes roadblocks and assists with setting the strategic goals.

Our recruiting teams are strongly supported by both our operations and digital teams. The digital team helps YOU learn about our openings and brings our career stories and opportunities to life through several social media channels. They delight you with topics like “Nail the interview” and “Cool Jobs”, just to name a few.

The operations team is the communication arm. They make your interview possible and provide you with the logistics and details to make your day shine. So……

What do we do?

We partner, with our digital team and operations teams. The recruiter springs to action to match the needs of the hiring manager with the skills of the candidate. We often find talent for the role through networking and reaching out to YOU. We have a Sourcer who helps us find talent who may not be as easy to locate for some of our niche roles. Recruiters talk to YOU about the department, the role, and the organization, sharing that personal story and our purpose with you and then presenting your skills to the hiring team. Next the Talent Acquisition Specialist on our operations team, works diligently to schedule the interviews, create offer letters, onboard, and send the communications to YOU every step of the way. The next thing you know, it is your first day at Lowe’s and you are meeting with the recruiter for your onboarding.

How do we “help people love where they live”?

I reached out directly to some of my team members so that you can hear directly from them, as to what they enjoy about their role and how they tie this into our purpose, “to help people love where they live”. This is what they had to say:

“In our role and our interactions with the candidates we are almost like a “looking glass” into what it’s like to be a part of the Lowe’s family. Through my genuine happiness and positive nature, our candidates get to experience just a little bit of what the atmosphere is like every day here at Lowe’s”. - Jessica

“I love calling or emailing people and asking them for an onsite interview. Just hearing the excitement in their voices is so rewarding to me. Then to follow up with making their experience here seamless. Our team does a really good job of identifying candidates for roles, getting them on board for interviews. We do a seamless job of making this happen on almost a daily basis.  We do a great job of communicating with our candidates and not leaving them in the black hole”. - Kendis

“We are literally changing people’s lives on a daily basis. We have the ability to give someone a livelihood and more often than not their dream job. On the other hand we can’t always make everyone’s dreams come true either. Our real talent is taking those moments of not being selected and turning them into a positive experience by lending advice and support as they continue on in their journey”. - Jessica

Hopefully you can gain a clearer picture of who our Talent Acquisition team is and what we are all about.

Gwen Lawson’s career at Lowe's spans over ten years, but who is counting? Her path at Lowe's includes experiences on both the Field and Corporate Talent Acquisition teams, as well as, a project management role on the business side. She is excited to be recruiting for the Customer Experience and Merchandising teams at Lowe's. When she is not busy recruiting talent for Lowe's, she enjoys working in her garden and completing various home projects, and that is why the employee discount comes in handy!

Hello. I need to find out who my local talent acquisition person is because I need to contact them. How would I go about doing that since we really don’t have an HR person anymore?
