Holiday Greetings and Reflections

As 2020 draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of MUFG to wish you and your loved ones a safe, healthy, and enjoyable holiday season.

Whether you’re a colleague, a client, a frontline worker, a member of our community or just a concerned citizen, I’m sure you’ll agree that this year has been one for the history books—between a pandemic that triggered a global health crisis and instances of social injustice and unrest. Our hearts go out to all those who have felt the full force of these events.

Times like this expose weaknesses, but they also reveal strengths that were always there but not fully realized. For us, 2020 has crystalized the essential nature of solidarity and partnership in confronting the most serious of difficulties and blazing a path forward in the face of adversity. This year has also created an opportunity for us at MUFG to build on our resilience, find the strength, and commit ourselves to emerging into a much better place.

I thank our colleagues, who have stepped up in unprecedented ways to serve our customers and communities. I thank our clients for continuing to place their trust in us. And I thank anyone who has made a difference this year—big or small—in helping others cope with this chapter in history.

This holiday season, I wish you and your loved ones peace, good health and a prosperous year ahead, with my deepest appreciation and most profound gratitude.

While I’ve left MUFG in 2017, I keep following MUFG, colleagues and it’s thought leaders. A much needed compassionate message Steve, as this unusual year comes to a close.
