Get to know Terry Miller, NOIR Co-Chair

In honor of Black History Month, J.Crew Group (JCG) is excited to highlight the leaders of the NOIR Associate Impact Group (AIG).

NOIR’s purpose is to create a safe space for associate connection, education, partnership, and activation. Through impactful conversations and community building initiatives—NOIR aims to contribute to the professional and personal development of group members while connecting and amplifying the contributions of Black associates across the company along with allies who wish to join our efforts.

Meet Terry Miller, NOIR Co-Chair & J.Crew Factory District Manager for Illinois & Indiana. Read on to learn more his journey to JCG, his hopes for NOIR's impact and how he honors Black History Month.

Q: What made you join the team at JCG?

TM: I've had a deep admiration for the JCG for as long as I can remember. My journey in the retail industry began with J. Crew several years ago, and now, with a recent opportunity, my interest in the brand has reignited. It's the dynamic growth and infectious energy of the brand that has drawn me back once more.

Q: What made you raise your hand to be the Co-Chair for Noir? What does Noir mean to you?

TM: Upon returning to the brand, I was certain that I wanted to be part of AIG, particularly the Black AIG. In my second week of training, I unexpectedly crossed paths with Nicole Moses, and from that moment on, everything fell into place. Meeting others within the brand who share my identity and perspective is incredibly inspiring. Having the chance to enhance engagement within this AIG is exactly what I've been seeking.

Q: How do you envision Noir will impact JCG? What are you most excited about in the upcoming year?

TM: My aim is to foster greater engagement and confidence among NOIR members. I aspire to enhance awareness and understanding among allies while creating a more inclusive environment where Black associates feel empowered to contribute and cultivate a stronger, more impactful voice within the brand.

Q: What are your plans to honor and celebrate Black History Month?

TM: I'm being selective with my spending this month, prioritizing support for Black-owned businesses. Additionally, I'm dedicating time to educate myself on the history of the Black community, aiming to increase my understanding and make a positive impact throughout the entire year.
