Ford's New Hire Experience Gets a Tech Boost: A Collaboration Success Story

Ford Motor Company is taking a bold step towards enhancing the onboarding experience for its new hires, thanks to a collaborative effort between the Learning & Development (L&D) and Information Technology (IT) teams. This partnership inspired new ideas that leverage the power of technology to create a seamless and engaging onboarding process.

The highlight of this collaboration is the creation of a pop-up tech lounge, located in the newly remodeled Ford Talent Center formerly known as Building 6. The lounge is a welcoming and supportive space where new hires can:

Get hands-on experience: Guided by IT specialists, they can explore our systems, software, and tools in a safe and supportive environment.

Ask questions: The IT team is on hand to answer questions and provide personalized assistance, ensuring any tech-related hurdles are addressed quickly and efficiently.

Connect with colleagues: The lounge fosters a sense of community and allows new hires to connect with their colleagues, building relationships and fostering a sense of belonging.

The partnership also extends to the development of a learning and development pathway specifically designed to highlight the tech landscape at Ford. This curated learning experience provides new hires with a comprehensive overview of the technology tools, systems, and applications they will encounter throughout their journey at the company.

Further enhancing the onboarding experience is the planned future deployment of laptops to new hires on their first day out of the Ford Talent Center. This streamlined approach eliminates any delays or disruptions, allowing new hires to hit the ground running and begin contributing to the team right away.

Initial feedback from new hires has been positive. Many have expressed appreciation for the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the technology they'll be using. The Tech Lounge has also been praised for creating a relaxed and supportive environment where new hires feel comfortable asking questions and seeking assistance.

The success of this initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration. By leveraging the strengths of both L&D and IT, Ford has created a truly exceptional onboarding experience. The pop-up tech lounge, learning and development pathway, and laptop deployment are all designed to empower new hires with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

“This is just the beginning” added Cori Cooper, Learning & Development Leader. "We are committed to continuously innovating and improving the onboarding experience for our new hires, ensuring that they are fully prepared to contribute to the future of Ford."

May I ask who am I to contact about a Ford distribution job in my city? I accepted the official job offer. But still has yet to get any contact back about a physical and orientation. I signed the job offer early June. I have tried to figure out who to talk to and no way to reach anyone. I have a friend who works in the building and his boss last told him "we are waiting for 1 more person so we can start you both at the same time". Should hear from Ford by end of week. That was 2 end of weeks ago now. And still no call or email.

🚨 Urgent: Repeated Engine Failures in Ford Focus 🚨 Ford Motor Company I am reaching out today to share a deeply frustrating and ongoing issue with my Ford Focus. Despite Ford’s claim that their EcoBoost 1.0 engine is an award-winning model, my experience tells a very different story. Since purchasing the vehicle brand new in September 2018, I have faced repeated engine failures that have left me without a reliable car and burdened with extensive repair costs. Timeline of Issues: First Engine Replacement: 65,000 KM Second Engine Replacement: 139,000 KM Third Engine Failure: 203,000 KM Recent Issue: The most recent engine failure occurred without any warning signs of overheating. The engine shut down unexpectedly, and upon towing it to the dealership, I was informed it required another complete engine replacement.. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this with Ford’s customer service and escalating the matter to higher management, I have not received a satisfactory response. I am now left with no choice but to publicize this issue to seek justice and support. My Demands: Immediate replacement of the engine at no cost. Acknowledgment of the manufacturing defects.
