Welcome to the Book Marketing Action Newsletter!

We’re excited to share guidance and insights to support your author journey and help launch your valuable work into the world.

Let’s get started!

New Episodes! The Book Marketing Action Podcast

How are you managing the publicity for your book launch?

In this episode, Leah Paulos, founder of Press Shop PR / Book Publicity School, identifies productive paths toward increasing your influence and media coverage. She and Becky had an incredible conversation about how authors can navigate publicity for their books, including tactics for finding their target audiences and strategies for breaking through the noise.

We often discuss how authors should prepare to market their books before launch, but what about after the book is published?

If you’re looking for guidance around adapting your book marketing post-launch, this conversation with Hesha Abrams, master mediator, keynote speaker, and author of Holding the Calm: The Secret to Resolving Conflict and Defusing Tension, will help.

Reminder: We share a new episode every few weeks, so subscribe to get immediate access to the latest content!

Creating Reach

Our founder and CEO, Becky Robinson, was recently a faculty member for the Write to Publish conference, where she helped educate authors on how they can enhance their book marketing efforts and create ongoing reach for their work.

Jenni LaBrie compiled the key takeaways from Becky’s sessions into this incredible graphic! How are you applying the findings below to create reach and book marketing success for your important work?

Should Hybrid or Self-Published Authors Prioritize Pre-Orders?

If you’re an author of a hybrid published or self-published print-on-demand book, you may wonder how a pre-order campaign fits into your book launch.

We always encourage authors to set up a book for pre-order, as it allows you to:

  • Add retailer links to your book page on your website in advance of launch

  • Build enthusiasm and excitement for the book when people see it live

  • Create a way for podcast interviewers or other media interviewers  to find your book through an online search

You can learn more about the pre-order process for hybrid or self-published books here

How Can You Gain the Best Endorsements?

Although endorsements may not make or break the success of your book, they are a great source of social proof and credibility for your work.

You want to focus on the quality, not the quantity, of the endorsements, though, and work to engage with people who are connected to the message of your book.

Ways to Grow Media Attention for Your Book

Getting media attention for your book in an election year requires a strategic and proactive approach.

As an author, you’ll want to be proactive and focused in your outreach efforts, ensuring you understand your target audience and craft compelling media pitches.
