The 2019 Men's Lacrosse Tournament is Set

The 2019 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Field is set.  Seventeen teams will battle it out over the next several weeks and one team will be left standing on Memorial Day in Philadelphia.  That team will be the 2019 Men’s Lacrosse Champion.  The play-in game is this Wednesday evening 5/8 between UMBC and Marist.  The winner of that game travels to Penn State this coming Sunday to take on the #1 seed Nittany Lions.  I will predict the 1st round games that will be played on Saturday below.

Loyola hosts Syracuse at 12pm on Saturday in the NCAA Tournament’s 8/9 matchup.  This may end up being the best game of the Tournament.  I predict the Greyhounds to jump out to an early lead and hold on for a one goal victory.  The #5 seed Yale Bulldogs take on Georgetown in Saturday’s second game.  I predict Yale to win by 3 to 4 goals as they start the defense of their National Championship.  The third game on Saturday pits the #4 seed Penn Quakers against Army West Point.  I am predicting Penn to win this game in overtime as the Black Knights have been playing their best lacrosse the last several weeks and will give the Quakers all they can handle.  The nightcap on Saturday pits the #3 seed Virginia Cavaliers against Robert Morris.  The Colonials won the NEC Conference Tournament last weekend and have had a good season but Virginia will overwhelm them and cruise to a 4 to 5 goal victory in Charlottesville.

The play in game this Wednesday evening in Poughkeepsie will be an exciting contest between two up and coming teams.  I will take the home team in a close contest.  The Marist Red Foxes will then have to travel to University Park on Sunday to take on Penn State.  I am looking forward to all the action this weekend.
