102nd birthday of Isaac Asimov

Today is the birthday of Isaac Asimov. He is one of my favorite science fiction writers. I have read more than 15 of his books, including the entire Foundation series. Unlike the recently released TV series, as well as the films Bicentennial Man and I, Robot, Asimov's novels are full of optimism and kindness. You won't find villains in them, and robots do not even think of enslaving humanity. They are the most reliable and caring companions of people. Asimov often plays around with the laws of robotics in various situations. His books give me hope for a good future!

His family life was not easy. He was born in Russia in 1920 in the middle of a civil war. His parents were millers. At the age of 3, he immigrated to the United States, where he lived all his life. After two rounds of rejections by medical schools, Asimov applied to the graduate program in chemistry at Columbia in 1939. Initially he was rejected and then only accepted on a probationary basis. He completed his Master of Arts degree in chemistry in 1941 and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in chemistry in 1948.

He wrote his first story as a teenager, and the first known story was published in 1941. In 1952, he was already earning more from his writings than from teaching at the university. Asimov has written 500 books, answered tens of thousands of questions from his readers. He has also been a speaker at various science and science fiction conferences. He was named Humanist of the Year by the American Humanist Association in 1984.

Isaac Asimov inspired many people, including Paul Krugman, the Nobel laureate in economics, and also influenced the work of many science fiction writers. He inspires me as well. I hope that I will contribute to the expansion of mankind into space and the creation of a race of spacers (the first settlers to other planets), as well as to contribute to the development of a new fundamental laws of physics that will help our descendants to travel across the galaxy.

The life of Isaac Asimov shows that even such shocking events like the Second World War couldn't stop a person from dreaming and inspiring others. I wish you to be a professional in your field and make your contribution to the development of mankind!
