ThreatBook, a startup founded by a former Amazon executive, Xue Feng has developed antivirus and security software to help protect corporations and bureaucracies against malicious cyberattacks.
Tanzania ready to lift media ban
Tanzania’s government spokesperson has said on Wednesday that the country has revised a decision to lift a ban on all media in the country. The ban though is to be lifted on online television only and not other media, including newspapers that were banned according to the laws.
Black-owned media summit in May 2021 - Allen Media Group partners with Verizon
Founder of the Allen Media Group, Byron Allen has said that “the biggest trade deficit in the US nation is the trade deficit between corporate America and Black America, and that gap must close immediately.” He was speaking after Allen Media Group partnered with Verizon for a Black-owned media summit scheduled for May.
New Cryptocurrency Media Brand launched
Finance media company, TheStreet is launching a new cryptocurrency-focused media brand in addition to expanding the availability of crypto coverage on its own website. This comes at a time when the value of the cryptocurrency market tops $2 trillion.
New online game shows risks of AI emotion recognition
A team of researchers have created a website where the public can try out emotion recognition systems through their own computer cameras amidst criticism of privacy concerns and inaccuracies.

Khloe Kardashian posts unfiltered photo on social media ‘by mistake’
A member of the famous Kardashian family, TV star and social media influencer Khloe Kardashian is keen to take down an unfiltered photo of her shared on her social media platforms “by mistake”, with her team saying that the image infringed her copyright. In the said photo, the star appeared unusually unairbrushed, contrary to the ‘perfect image’ her followers are used to seeing of her.
Arsenal Star Willian still afraid to go back on social media after abuse
Winger of English Premier League club Arsenal, Willian Borges da Silva has admitted that he has been afraid of going back to social media after being racially abused. The 32-year-old Brazilian has since deleted all his social media accounts since then saying “enough is enough.”
Clubhouse launches new monetization feature for creators
Rising social audio app, Clubhouse has announced that it will now allow users to send money to their favorite creators, or speakers on the platform. This is after it announced its new monetization feature that will allow creators to get paid directly on the app. Rumour also has it that Twitter has reportedly discussed the possibility of buying Clubhouse for $4 billion.
Dubai naked photoshoot saga – those involved to be deported
Earlier this week, images and videos of some naked women splattered across social media after a male photographer took photos of 11 Ukrainian women on a high-rise balcony in Dubai. Authorities have confirmed that all those involved in the act will be deported as their behavior is against religious and public morals.
Facebook’s new stickers encourage vaccination
On the occasion of World Health Day on April 7th, social media giant Facebook has launched new stickers on both Instagram and WhatsApp to encourage people to get vaccinated if possible. The stickers on WhatsApp were created in partnership with the World Health Organization, whilst Instagram also has the option of sharing stories with the “I Got Vaccinated” sticker.
