2023 was the year of tech industry layoffs, however thanks to the ‘’AI Arms race’, 2024 could see a hiring upswing in the tech space as the skills of future grow in demand. Meta announces that they are expecting headcount to be ‘meaningfully higher than last year’. It will be interesting to see if there is a knock effect across our region… my money says yes. Most big businesses are wanting to develop their own tech or wanting to be more like a tech firm (particularly when valuations are considered). One sample of the type of work we do: turning one engineer's problem into an entire org's solution. 1 - Identify: Engineers highlighted underperforming and understaffed external vendor team --> we covers vendor’s work --> Engineers can't do their best work. 2 - Mitigate: Our team (EPMs) performed root cause/corrective action --> acute risk mitigated 3 - Scale: Turned one-off process solution into a vendor performance management product used by multiple teams in Hardware Engineering outside of our small group.
