Ecoscapes: Scenarios for an uncertain world 🏞️ 📅 16 July, 12.30pm - 2.00pm (The Treehouse, Berrick Saul Building) This interdisciplinary discussion series is jointly hosted by the Department of Biology and the Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity and brings together a diversity of perspectives on changing biodiversity in the Anthropocene. Using scenarios allows us to explore what different possible futures might look like under highly uncertain conditions. They are often used to explore how biodiversity and ecosystem services may change in the future with different socioeconomic and environmental trajectories. But how useful can they really be, and to whom? Learn more here and come along: https://bit.ly/3VNce0N

"#carbonfootprint of #wars". From this video I've identified that we need to advocate for the end of #wars because each war releases vast amount of #carbondioxide into the atmosphere. Are there any #researchpapers on this? However, the main point is: wars bring vast direct suffering to the war victims. So when foundations have vast support and funding, please address this.

A catalyst for transformation, enriching lives and ecosystems through co-evolving mutualism, capacity development, design, and resilient organisational forms.
Embrace Life, think climate, or step down as a leader! The challenge of the climate crisis calls for a collective awakening, not just among future generations or those currently wielding influence, but among us all, right here, right now. It compels us to confront a fundamental question: What are we striving to sustain? Is it the unsustainable patterns of today's existence, or is it life itself in its myriad forms? This pivotal moment demands that we each take a hard look in the mirror and reconsider not only my lifestyle or yours, but how we as a global community inhabit our planet. The transition to a sustainable future is not just about tweaking the edges of our current way of life but about a profound transformation in our values and daily actions. It's about making conscious choices that prioritize the vitality of our planet over convenience, recognizing that true sustainability means nurturing and preserving life in all its diversity. This is not a matter of regulation but of a deeply personal and collective choice to redefine our relationship with the Earth, ensuring a livable, thriving planet for generations to come.

Director, PolicyWISE -The first and only UK and Ireland comparative policy, research and knowledge exchange initiative - hosted by The Open University
#geodiversity is one of the most important aspects, and solutions, related to #climatechange but is often overlooked. New from PolicyWISE and Elaine Hooton, the latest #WiseIn5 briefing looks at the issues and what’s happening across our governments and nations. Check out the video and briefing in the post below.
How much do you know about geodiversity? Geodiversity forms the landscapes all around us and plays a fundamental role in shaping ecosystems and supporting life. However, geodiversity has been referred to as ‘silent nature’ and its role is often taken for granted. Elaine Hooton explains more in this short video and the PolicyWISE briefing emphasizes the need for a more holistic approach to nature, one that fully recognizes and integrates the contributions of geodiversity alongside biodiversity in ecosystems.
