🌍 ANDRITZ and Metsä Group are pioneering carbon capture integration: Our collaboration will enable the removal of CO2 from flue gases in a bioproduct mill, providing the foundation for future utilization of this biogenic CO2. 🚀A global first in a bioproduct mill. 🔵 ANDRITZ will conduct a process concept study aiming to eventually capture all the CO2 – about 4.2 million tons per year – from the flue gases of a bioproduct mill. 🔵 The study will explore utilizing waste heat side streams to power the carbon capture process. 🔵 Expected completion: 2024. For example, upgrading blast furnaces to electric arc furnaces in the steel industry can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars or more.
