To celebrate #volunteersweek we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to record and monitor Jersey's wildlife. Your immense collective efforts have resulted in a database that contains more than 530,000 biological records of species from terrestrial, freshwater, and marine habitats in Jersey and its territorial waters. This includes more than 125,000 records of species that are protected under the Wildlife (Jersey) Law 2021. This extensive and ever-growing database of records is crucial as it forms the basis for evidence-based conservation decision-making, land management, policy, and research in Jersey. Humanity Rising Day 921: IIC IV: Advocacy for and with Nature: A Call to… The Rights of Nature (RoN) movement has been growing since 1972. The question of how to truly listen to the voice of Nature has proven challenging in the existing paradigm. How do we represent and include Nature and Nature's rights if we don't know how to communicate with Nature? Intuitive interspecies communication (IIC) is an innate capacity shared by all animals, including humans, which facilitates interspecies understanding and cooperation with the natural world. Globally, IIC is gaining recognition as a transformative method across numerous sectors. An increasing number of individuals and organizations are integrating IIC into animal advocacy, welfare, and conservation efforts. This panel invites participants to explore how the integration of IIC can empower the co-creation of more inclusive advocacy for and with Nature every day. 🌍 At Primate Global Foundation, we envision a world where humans and wildlife coexist peacefully and responsibly. Our mission addresses a broad spectrum of human-wildlife conflict issues, including those driving small-scale illegal poaching in habitats. Through sponsoring research grants and supporting grassroots initiatives, we aim to develop solutions to the multifaceted issues arising from close human-wildlife interactions. Our advocacy work is anchored in a three-fold approach: forging local and international partnerships, launching proactive initiatives, and measuring environmental impact. Promoting gender equity in conservation is a key part of the work of the USAID Tuhifadhi Maliasili project, implemented by RTI. The project provides hands-on experience in wildlife conservation for young women like Irene Laizer. From monitoring elephant movements using cameras to analyzing the collected data for understanding their behavioral patterns, Irene's experience is coming into use as she pursues her master's in wildlife management and conservation. Reflecting on the starting of the journey with Vikriti Foundation has been nothing short of extraordinary. For Wild Justice, I reviewed the Green Party of England and Wales manifesto and it's environmental impacts. I am becoming more aware, as we all are, of the need for a multi-party demographic and coalitive process in this society, as we move through linear hierarchies and battle obstructions and limitations set by those we would have seen before as liberators.
