That's the POWER of Mangroves! 🤩 According to a report by the Manila Bulletin, a study published in the Nature Geoscience Journal examined the carbon content of 25 mangrove forests across the Indo-Pacific region. The study found that, per hectare, mangrove forests have the capacity to store up to four times more carbon compared to other types of forests. All that stands in clear opposition to the concept of "relational identity" entails an openness to the other, invoking the rhizome metaphor. While roots present themselves as singular entities, rhizomes are ontologically multiple and interconnect to ensure survival. Applied to the dynamics of human ecology, this theory calls forth an identity model that challenges the presumed absoluteness of each root: what matters is how the underground stems come into contact with each other, generating manifold and composite identities.

∇ The Principle of Entropy - Universal Principles ∇ • In physics, entropy measures disorder, predicting the direction of thermodynamic processes. • In information theory, it quantifies uncertainty or the content of information in messages. • In ecology, entropy reflects the energy dispersal within ecosystems, influencing sustainability. • In social systems, entropy symbolizes the unpredictability and complexity of human interactions.

Congratulations to Afeef Ahmad, Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, Naima Reggad, and Addrita Haque on your new journal paper in Acta Geophysica! This comparative study will enhance our understanding of mean flow fields in the wake of three distinct instream habitat structures: wooden log, vegetation, and boulder. This research aims to assess their suitability for applications in instream habitat improvement, sediment control, and river restoration projects. https://rdcu.be/dIbJD

🪸 "If we don’t wisely restore the ‘reefs of today’, the ‘reefs of tomorrow’ will slip away" - Buki Rinkevich, Professor at Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research, #OceanCitizen Partner. Professor Baruch (Buki) Rinkevich is a marine biologist and ecologist based in Haifa, Israel. He is working on marine invertebrates, mainly on #corals and #ascidians. His role on the project is focused on restoration ecology, in Eila Pilot site (Israel). In this article, Prof. Rinkevich thoroughly examines the principles of 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 and its application to coral reef restoration. The approaches described in the article, as well as others that are either already employed or are developing, all improve the tools available for coral reef restoration: https://lnkd.in/dzY6fnYW Please read and share 🩵 #ecologicalengineering #coralreef #restoration #climatechange #biodiversity
