What does it take to start a difficult conversation? It takes a willingness to show up, to share, to listen, and a willingness to learn. It's easy for us to judge silence no matter what side of it we find ourselves on. When we have a story to tell, we don't know what will happen when we share it. We don't know what will change about how we are seen, received, or even how we will feel. When we are a learner we aren't sure how new knowledge might change how we see the world. Imagine if breaking the barriers of silence led to people being able to bring their resources forward to build more safety, connection, and positive change. If not you, then someone you know has been and is doing their best to navigate daily life. This daily grind can be especially hard for survivors. Unfortunately, our society doesn't properly support (primary and secondary) survivors because adequate information doesn't exist to influence the needed changes that can make daily life more manageable for us. GOTU is working to close this information gap via our biannual State of Survivorship Reports.
