Is the Embedded Software contractor market dead? In my ten years as a contractor I have always been able to find new contracts whenever I have needed one. 2024 has been very different. Virtually no contracts available but there seems to be hundreds of permanent jobs advertised. So, is the contract market going to pick up anytime soon? It is clear that a lot of these permanent jobs are not going to get filled quickly, so I am surprised that some of these have not turned into contract opportunities. I am trying to figure out why the market is currently like this? There is obviously a strong demand for Embedded Software engineers. What has changed in the last year to stop companies hiring contractors? I. Job Description - We are looking for a professional Embedded Software Engineer to execute complete embedded software development lifecycle.
