👏 We recently had the privilege of speaking with Chris Hsiung, Founding Board Member of The Curve. Chris shared some invaluable insights from his time as Chief of Police in Mountain View and Undersheriff at San Mateo County, shedding light on how these roles shaped his leadership style. One key takeaway was Chris’s emphasis on the importance of vulnerability in leadership. "A leader's responsibility is to set the tone and to show a little bit of vulnerability, too. Leaders who are vulnerable are the leaders who I want to follow." This vulnerability, according to Chris, isn't a weakness but a strength that fosters trust and connection within a team. 💪 Chris also touched on his journey of self-discovery as a leader. He admitted it took time for him to become comfortable in his own skin and voice. "I probably wasn't comfortable in my own skin, in my own voice until I was probably my second year as a captain." This realization allowed him to embrace his unique strengths and weaknesses, ultimately making him a more authentic and effective leader. Who is a "Hero" It's been said what you celebrate you attract. Honor and reward reinforces values. As a CEO peer advisory group brand committed to this integrated idea of Business-as-a-Ministry (#BaaM), we regularly measure for and celebrate around Tri-Value wins. Economic, Team and Spiritual value adds through the enterprise are all worthy of celebration. Results matter, so we measure and celebrate those a lot. However, as followers of Jesus, the highest aim of success is faithfulness, diligence, and courageous obedience. Often times faithful stewardship coincides with outcome metrics that get you conventional recognition. Sometimes faith actually costs you, obedience and courageous truth has a price tag, or it is embodied in how you suffer through adversity. What about those moments? Over 20 years ago we rolled out something called the C12 Bob Mack Memorial Hero Award for nominated leaders within the community of C12 Business Forums. Every 2 years we recognize a select few of these saints from our membership at our global conference (#CURRENT25). Yeah, C12 members are 2-3X as likely to win the #Inc5000 list, often have 40-50% better employee engagement, often crush Fast Track, Best Place to Work and industry-specific achievement awards. That's super important. But it's also important to celebrate heroes who will be celebrated in eternity that likely won't be on the cover of conventional magazines and media campaigns. If you want to be encouraged by the goodness and deep faith some #CEO and #entrepreneur leaders have embodied, check out our 2023 recipients - https://lnkd.in/gszP2Enp Then come join us at www.C12Current25.com to see the next round of recipients next spring. Better yet, join their community via www.JoinC12.com and be part of this global tribe of leaders committed to building great businesses for a greater #purpose! #C12

Last month, another state banned Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs in all state offices, schools, and universities. While the private sector and nonprofits are not affected – yet—that doesn’t mean they don’t face risk. Workplaces are increasingly diverse communities that should be embraced and celebrated. Applying DEI practices builds teams, makes employees feel valued, and has even been shown to improve the bottom line. But like most efforts, they must be done carefully and intentionally. I recommend this excellent Harvard Business Review article to help DEI practitioners understand the risks without risking the rewards. #DowntownDetroit, #WMIH, #DEI, #DiverseWorkplaces DEI Is Under Attack. Here’s How Companies Can Mitigate the Legal Risks. (hbr.org)

CEO & Chief Strategist, Cambridge China Business Solutions | Trusted Adviser to CEOs & GCs | Partner gunnercooke LLP | Non-Executive Director at Haitong Bank S.A.
In 2021, gunnercooke co-founder, Darryl Cooke, published his book The Square Mile which urges leaders to integrate social responsibility into their core. This message deeply resonates with me, encapsulating the essence of purpose-driven leadership. In our profession, we often find ourselves navigating complex legal landscapes, but Darryl's words prompt us to look beyond the courtroom and consider the legacy we leave in the wider society. The call to action for business leaders to dedicate time to social opportunities is one that strikes a chord. In the legal profession, we have considerable influence, not just within the courtroom, but in our communities. Darryl's plea for leaders to integrate social responsibility into the core of their businesses aligns with my belief that legal professionals should not only uphold justice but actively contribute to societal progress. I am inspired to embrace Darryl's vision - advocacy goes beyond the courtroom; it extends to championing social change and creating opportunities for those in need.

What an amazing turnout Ithaca College yesterday for the 25th anniversary of the DIVERSITY CONSORTIUM OF TOMPKINS COUNTY! 🎉 I was honored to lead a workshop on Neurodiversity at Work: Cultivating an Inclusive and Thriving Environment. The energy and engagement from the audience were truly inspiring, with participants eager to share and learn from each other. I love when workshops spark such meaningful conversations that they continue even after the session ends, with attendees staying behind to dive deeper into the discussion. Some key takeaways from the workshop: 🌟 The benefits of a neurodiverse workforce and how diverse perspectives can drive innovation. ♿ Applying Universal Design principles to create more accessible and inclusive spaces for all. 🧠 Strategies for inclusive practices, brainstorming solutions to challenges like time blindness and sensory sensitivities. This is just the beginning! If you're interested in learning more about the workshops I offer—whether for organizations or self-advocates, in-person or virtual—let’s connect! 📧 Reach out to us at [email protected] for inquiries and collaboration opportunities. #Neurodiversity #InclusiveWorkplace #UniversalDesign #DiversityAndInclusion #Leadership #Workshops #Collaboration
