Caring for others 😊 ! Daily yoga practice has become an integral part of my routine, and I've noticed some interesting trends at the studio. While some classes are consistently packed, others have more availability.  Curious to understand the reasons behind this, I decided to attend the Sunday morning session that's always fully booked. It didn't take long to see why - the teacher is incredibly attentive and truly cares for the well-being of each participant. During the class, he spent 10 minutes emphasizing the importance of staying hydrated, reminding us to drink at least 4 liters of water daily, not just when we feel thirsty. He explained how proper hydration can boost our health and vitality. But it wasn't just the insightful tips that impressed me. The teacher also went around the room, meticulously checking each person's poses to ensure we were practicing safely and correctly. His dedication to our safety and growth is palpable. It's this level of caring that makes him one of the most sought-after instructors at the studio. The power of caring for others is truly remarkable - it fosters a supportive, enriching environment that keeps students coming back, eager to learn and grow. Cultivating that spirit of care and compassion, both on and off the mat, is a valuable lesson we can all apply in our lives. Learn more about Pat's topic and background below: Patricia Lebau, RYT-500 Topic: IPT or Integrated Positional Therapy to Discuss Alignment and Muscular Imbalances Related to Painful Conditions in the Body “Many people suffer from common imbalances associated with cultural patterns of sitting (excess forward folding at the hips), cell phones (excess stretch to the back of the neck and upper shoulders) and right versus left handedness and driving with the right foot/leg/hip. These common patterns of uneven overuse bring our structure out of alignment and over time, create strain and pain. Understanding this allows us to craft Yoga classes that address alignment, and that focus on heart openers and back strengtheners and that use less forward folds. This understanding also teaches us to avoid the "fullest expression of the pose" when doing one sided poses where one side is much more flexible than the other”. Pat is a 500-hour Kripalu certified Yoga Teacher and Integrated Positional Therapy practitioner with a M.S. in Biology. She has been practicing Yoga on and off since her teens and has been teaching since 2008. Pat's Yoga practices are greatly influenced by Integrated Positional Therapy which infuses all her classes.
