Drowning is a silent crisis, claiming the lives of 4,500 people each year in the United States--yet it can be a preventable tragedy. As summer winds down, Lindsay Mondick, our Director of Aquatic Strategy, highlights the importance of water safety and calls for Congress to reinstate funding to the National Drowning Prevention Program. #DrowningPrevention #SafetyAroundWater

As summer heats up and families flock to pools, lakes, and beaches to cool off, it's crucial to prioritize water safety. Remember, keeping an eye on your child near water should be a constant vigil, as accidents can happen in just seconds. Instilling good habits like wearing life jackets and teaching basic swimming skills can make all the difference in preventing tragedies. When enjoying aquatic activities with your loved ones, don't forget the importance of setting clear boundaries and rules around water. Communicating expectations about where children can swim, how deep they can go, and when they need adult supervision establishes a safe environment for everyone involved. Additionally, making sure adults are trained in CPR and basic rescue techniques adds an extra layer of preparedness for any unexpected situations that may arise. By prioritizing water safety during National Safety Month this June, you're not only protecting your family but also fostering a culture of responsible recreation among those around you. Remember that being proactive and informed are key components to preventing accidents. Stay vigilant by staying educated on water safety protocols and never hesitate to ask for help or guidance if needed; your actions could save a life this season. #susiescheuberrealtor #susiescheubersells #remaxagent #remaxultimateprofessionals

National Drowning Prevention Week is here, and we're deeply committed to keeping our community safe around the water. Blessed as we are to be located beside beautiful Georgian Bay and surrounded by countless lakes and rivers, water safety is more than just a priority—it's essential to our community’s well-being. This week, we're raising awareness the greatest drowning dangers. #DYK that 80% of people who drowned while boating were either not wearing a #lifejacket or weren’t wearing it properly? How about that most people who drown never intended to go in the water and that swimming as a recreational activity only accounts for 38% of drownings? The most recent data shows that drowning rates are highest among older adults 65 years and older (26%) followed by 20-34 year olds (24%). Knowing your limits and checking local conditions each time before going in the water is an important part of staying safe. All age groups can benefit from taking extra precautions, such as wearing fitted life jackets or going out with a buddy, to prepare for the unexpected. Prevention starts with education and vigilance. Check out this great resource for tips on how to be more water safe: https://lnkd.in/g-_Rwcs8. Spending the day at a recreational water facility such as a water park or public pool is a great summer activity to beat the heat. As you prepare to make a splash, it is important to know your rights and what duties owners of recreational facilities have to protect you and your family when you visit. The Washington State Administrative Code 246-260-131 outlines the operational responsibilities of recreational water facility owners, which help protect visitors. Owners of recreational water facilities must make sure that they protect health, safety, and water quality by following procedures and creating a written set of rules that address various operations. 🐜🍃 Are you on Pest Patrol? 🏠🤝 Given Australia's unique climate and landscape, living here means embracing nature, but it also means dealing with occasional pests. Some pest occurrences are beyond anyone's control, but landlords should ensure there are no pests upon tenancy commencement. There onwards, tenants play a crucial role in ongoing prevention by keeping the space tidy, clutter free and storing food properly, especially if they have pets. Generally, cockroaches, rodents, fleas and ants that occur during a tenancy will be a tenant responsibility. At the time a tenant vacates if there is an obvious infestation it may also form part of a bond claim, especially if there was a pet on the premises. But, there are circumstances where it is appropriate to notify the landlord and request their input, such as if the property has unreasonable access points for pest entry. #realestate #propertymanager #propertymanagement

Brisbane City Council - Qld Health - Royal Life Saving Society Queensland Inc Perhaps now the authorities, aquatic industry and associations will finally start heeding our message, that together we need to do better to protect the health and safety of pre-school children, who are taking unacceptable risks at OUR public pools! These risks are entirely preventable; in some cases our advisory services are even lowering aquatic operating costs, whilst mitigating / eliminating these health risks! We look to working together with swim schools, public pool owners and operators and anyone else to help set higher standards for the future whilst improving business performance at the same time!!! Our #GOAL is to save 1-million children from contracting #asthma in Australian public pools by the Brisbane Olympics!
