The last 9 years I’ve worked on the LinkedIn presence/campaigns for 100+ clients. But... the amount of LinkedIn pages and ad accounts I’m still added to, is impossible to understand. If you’re in charge of the social media accounts for your company or an active admin for those… Check who still has access to your accounts! Your previous agency, the intern who left after a week and your colleague that got promoted and went to another department, all shouldn't have access to your socials. Schedule a monthly/quarterly item in your agenda to review the admin roles. And make it part of the offboarding of co-workers 💡 PS: This morning I deleted myself as an admin for different accounts, but it's a responsibility and risk that actually lies elsewhere. #LinkedInMarketing #BoldBytz

Please allow me – frequent lurker but infrequent poster – to spend a moment in your feed. Throw a dart at LinkedIn and you’ll likely hit a post announcing a job status change. This one is mine. I’ll try to avoid this site’s most overused words: “humbled,” “proud” and “excited.” (Also: don’t throw a dart at LinkedIn – you’ll crack your screen.) I joined TripleLift in 2019 at a very special moment. The company was set up for success in so many ways – from Product to Engineering to Sales – and the timing was perfect for my experience and approach to marketing. I am forever grateful to our co-founders Eric Berry and Ari Lewine for hiring me to put that approach to work and for trusting my instincts throughout. Our founders built a generational ad tech business that has driven success for everyone involved: customers, investors and employees. Being a part of that mix will always be a career highlight. These last 4 years have been rewarding in so many different ways. Year 1 started out “normally” and quickly evolved to become an exercise in remote, pandemic-driven marketing. Year 2 was centered on selling the company and transitioning to our new ownership. Year 3 was focused on our purchase of 1plusX and commercializing the new products and technology we acquired it for. Year 4 was spent transitioning from our founders to a new CEO and driving forward with a refreshed set of big bets. Each year was unique and formative – for me and for all of our teams. Our Marketing team has been (and is!) so special. I must shout out Kristen McDermott Napoli, Lindsey DiGiorgio, Brianna Gays and Diana Illiano for being wonderful marketers, tremendous leaders and revered colleagues. A special thanks to Nick Lakiotes, who is responsible for so much of the vibrance our brand is known for and Megan Heady who brings that brand to life at events around the world. There are *so* many more people to cite, but the work of these 6 people is emblematic of the goodness in all of our marketers…past and present. I am forever grateful to this company – and to all TripleLifters – for allowing me to make the contributions I’ve made and for giving me the gifts of friendship, shared accomplishment and professional growth. If each of us is truly lucky, there are moments when our skills align perfectly with a job. The last four years have been exactly that for me. I absolutely love marketing and being a marketer. It’s a joy to be strategic, tap into creativity, support teammates, solve challenges, hit goals, help people grow, and cultivate energetic environments where we can all do our best work. I look forward to finding that next moment – and doing it all over again. #humbled #proud #excited

Should I work agency or in house? This is a question I get asked a lot - from in house marketers who are curious about #agencylife, from agency folks who are wondering if the grass is greener on the other side, and from students or new grads who are charting their first career steps. I started out agency side… then worked in house… then back at an agency… then in house for seven years… and now I’m back where I started (kind of). And the answer I feel super qualified to share is that they’re both my favourite. I love the hustle of agency work. I love the challenge of working with a larger group of creative folks who are constantly pushing each other and collaborating and sharing what they learn. I love the diversity of work that comes from digging into different markets and audiences and industries. I love learning at scale and seeing right away what’s working - or what isn’t - across several campaigns, and then immediately having the chance to try a new idea. I also love working in house. I love digging really deep into an industry and getting to know one company’s target audience better than I know myself. I love the data. I love the accountability. I love working with teams of people who do wildly different jobs than mine, and partnering with them to get things done. I love the rhythm and the cycle of a business. I love the challenge of growing and maintaining a brand, and trying to innovate new marketing ideas within that. And then - nearly two decades into my career - I discovered a third option: working at a niche agency. At Metric Marketing, we work primarily with private and independent schools - from across North America and beyond - which means that I have the luxury of enjoying all the perks of agency work while also getting a chance to deep dive into an industry. We are also an agency that lives and breathes data, which adds so much context and colour to the creative work we do. I could talk about all the nuances of this forever, but in the end, what I’ve found is that it’s the best of both worlds. Really, it’s a brand new world. And isn’t uncovering a secret, better, third option to a ‘this or that’ binary question the most creative answer anyway? I guess it's not a secret anymore. Want to join us? In 2020, stopped posting on LinkedIn as I grew my business. 4 years later, I haven't missed a day of posting in over 730 days. I now have 28k plus followers and 54k newsletter subscribers and haven't missed a sales quota yet because of this platform. Here's what changed: I finally figured out how to hire and "download my expertise and brilliance" into a high-performing team of virtual assistants. This wasn't an "overnight fix" though. I went through no less than 5 virtual assistants only to find the same grim realities and frustrations... • The time it took me to review, edit, and approve their content was more intensive than if I just did it myself. • Many just waited to be told what to do instead of instructing me what they needed to power my marketing • In turn, I'd be frustrated with them, and they were undoubtedly frustrated with me It was completely unworkable. Finally, a year ago, I found a rhythm and system to "download" my expertise to two people on my team who are now properly empowered to run my marketing. It took a lot of trial and error, but this process has been responsible for multiple six figures I've sold on the process since. Sometimes we play practical jokes on each other or compete in silly games, and these small but important details bond us as a team. -Your life matters, inside and outside of work.
