The Black Recon™ UAV vehicle reconnaissance system created a ton of buzz when it was unveiled at DSEI last fall. Fitted inside a hardened launch box mounted to a fighting vehicle, Black Recon can deploy up to three UAVs during a mission. When one returns, a unique cradle-arm autonomously recovers the drone using patented technology to precisely track and capture the UAV -- as shown here.

Today, at our Sky-Drones flight test field in North London, we conducted a comprehensive testing session of the SkyLane-250 VTOL UAV. Our expert UAV specialist, Maxim, led the demonstration, showcasing the incredible capabilities of our advanced UAV technology.
The session began with an introduction and briefing where Max provided an overview of the SkyLane-250's key features and the planned testing procedures. This was followed by thorough pre-flight checks to ensure all components were in optimal condition, with all systems calibrated and ready to go.
We then set up the ground control system, demonstrating our intuitive software that covers flight parameter setup, mission planning, and real-time telemetry. The SkyLane-250 impressed us with its smooth vertical take-off and landing sequences, showcasing both manual and automated procedures. During the in-flight performance phase, a pre-planned flight mission highlighted the UAV's stability, control, and versatility in various flight modes.
The session included seamless payload integration, featuring live control and data transmission demonstrations. Max also demonstrated the UAV's robust fail-safe mechanisms through simulated emergency scenarios. We concluded with a detailed review of flight data and performance metrics, ensuring all testing objectives were met.
This hands-on testing session highlights our commitment to excellence and innovation in UAV technology. The SkyLane-250 VTOL UAV continues to set new standards in performance and reliability.

Paper titled "Analysis of Handover Rate and Coverage Performance of Mobile Users in UAV Networks," by Neetu R, Gourab Ghatak, Vivek Ashok Bohara, and Anand Srivastava is accepted to IEEE 99th Vehicular Technology Conference: VTC2024-Spring 2024.
Abstract—We study the handover (HO) rate and user performance in a large-scale three-dimensional (3-D) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network, where the UAVs are deployed to provide access to the ground mobile users in a disaster scenario. The 3-D network is modeled as a two-dimensional (2-D) homogeneous marked Poisson point process (PPP), in which the marks represent the altitude of the UAVs. Due to the different altitudes marked for the UAVs, irregularly shaped Voronoi cells are formed, which is challenging to analyze. Leveraging the HO rate, we derive the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) coverage probability and the average throughput experienced by mobile users. Based on the derived framework, we investigate the impact of the intensity of deployment and user speeds on the HO rate and throughput, which enables us to present several key system-design insights for such networks.
Congratulations to the team!!
