Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Editor Brian Sozzi recently sat down with The Wall Street Journal reporter Dana Mattioli about her explosive new book, "The Everything War: Amazon’s Ruthless Quest to Own the World and Remake Corporate Power." During their conversation, Mattioli detailed how Amazon 'decimated a lot of companies' using an NDA clause. I like seeing companies using more creative messaging in order to solve some of their business problems. Case in point, this came from an Amazon seller who recognizes two things: 1. Good reviews lead to more sales 2. Most people don’t really want to leave reviews and have no incentive to do so. In a space where margins are low, it’s difficult to financially incentivize buyers to leave a review. So this company opted to use an environmental message - if we sell more, the world around us benefits. It’s probably not enough to annoy the climate change deniers, and for those of us old fashioned enough to care about the planet, it might be enough to push us to spend a few minutes leaving a review. Emotional blackmail with a light touch? Maybe. But it’s tough out there, and you have to make your messaging work hard.

I just finished reading 'The Four: The Hidden DNA of Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google'. It's a thought-provoking dive into the strategies behind these tech giants' meteoric rise. Scott Galloway offers sharp insights into their impact on our lives and the economy. While the book delivers some eye-opening moments, it falls short in delving deeper into societal implications and occasionally veers into rants. Still, it's a worthwhile read for anyone interested in the digital age and corporate power. As I reflect on Galloway's analysis, I'm reminded that understanding the present is key to shaping the future. Remember: Success is not about the end goal but the journey you take to get there. Embrace the challenges, learn from the setbacks and keep pushing forward. #TheFour #TechGiants #BookReview #DigitalAge

Amazon's Prime Day is huge, but at what cost? As Amazon’s Prime Day wraps up, with record-breaking sales forecasted to reach $14 billion, it's crucial to consider the human cost behind the convenience. The pressure on Amazon workers during Prime Day is immense, leading to a surge in injuries and illnesses. Workers have reported grueling conditions, including overwork, injuries, and even fatalities. The increased workload affects not only warehouse workers but also delivery drivers, who are tasked with training new hires and working extended hours to cater to the surge in demand. Workers often operate in severe heat, with temperatures reaching 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit, raising concerns about their safety and well-being. Despite efforts to provide some respite, such as offering refreshments and organizing entertainment, workers truly need safer working conditions, manageable workloads, and the freedom to take breaks without fear of penalty. While consumers enjoy the convenience of same-day or two-day delivery, it’s essential to recognize the toll it takes on the workers fulfilling these orders. As we continue to support and benefit from e-commerce, it’s crucial to advocate for better working conditions and fair treatment of the labor force. #Amazon #PrimeDay #WorkerRights #LaborConditions #ECommerce #FairTreatment #SafetyFirst #CorporateResponsibility

One of the top business and leadership experts in the world. I help businesses and people be more successful | Executive Coaching | Consulting | Strategy | Workshops | Keynotes
At its most fundamental core, strategy is about the allocation of scarce resources. Even Google and Amazon do not have unlimited resources. You can’t say yes to everything. Squirrels and shiny balls can be dangerous. Just because you started a project does not mean you have to finish it. You can’t make every customer happy. Sometimes there are projects and customers you need to walk away from. You must have the courage to say “no” to anything that does not move your strategy forward.
