I hosted an emerging collector's event for #FriezeLA with emerging art development agency GOLIATH. Goliath Art Development Group is a multidisciplinary art agency, specializing in artist representation, commercial partnerships, and advisory services. Goliath is the conduit between functions. Forming new ways of working within the traditional makeup of the industry. We had a great conversation on the culture of collecting, investment vs custodian, the roles of art professionals and how fairs and shows provide a platform for education & exploration. Some takeaways from the conversation were: - From a collector: "I really buy what speaks to me, less so from a strict monetary standpoint, I want to connect with the artists i invest in on a personal, cultural level" - From a collector: "Fairs are my main point of entry into the Art world" - From a collector: "I prefer working 1-1 with an artist but I understand sometimes that's unrealistic, in those cases I wish i knew more advisors to direct my investments" - From a gallerist: "Watch what blue chip galleries are opening and showing, try to get in early and buy a small piece, knowing that there is a larger machine supporting the artist" - From an artist: "There's a gap in nurturing talent, I want to expand the my artistic output into products but need an assist in strategy that can help support my entire ecosystem" https://lnkd.in/g7ktBG5q
