I highly recommend reading the 'Catalyzing Carbon Dioxide Removal at Scale' 2024 Report from the B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) and Innovation Breakthrough Energy Technologies (IBET Climate) which analyzes the technological and economic readiness of CDR opportunities to achieve 2050 net-zero objectives. There is a plethora of useful information in this report on the potential and challenges for ocean-based CDR (#mCDR). Most interestingly, the report highlights that of all approaches studied, Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (#OAE) was estimated to have the highest potential for multi-gigatonne scale of carbon removal - "this stands out as a primary method for achieving multi-gigatonne CO2 removal in British Columbia, leveraging the province's vast coastline, ocean science expertise, and research capacity." The report examined how much CO2 can be removed from the atmosphere by sequestration projects in the United States and at what cost. This article is worth reading. It discusses the dangers of using captured carbon dioxide for enhanced oil recovery. This method does not reduce atmospheric CO2 and can actually lead to more emissions. Additionally, there are concerns that storing CO2 underground is not secure, as it can leak back into the atmosphere.

I know that many people needs a more simple explanation of the greenhouse effect. Although there are more effects than just the radiative energy transport of the Earth atmosphere.
