“AI is a lever for our minds.” X’s Captain of Moonshots Astro Teller sat down with the Wall Street Journal’s Kate Linebaugh for the latest episode of “The Journal” podcast, where he shared why he believes AI will create unexpected opportunities as our definition of work evolves.  “The jobs changed, and there was some re-training that had to happen,” Astro said, drawing a comparison to how the invention of spreadsheets transformed the relatively straightforward vocation of bookkeeping into the more lucrative field of accounting. “But in the end, the work was more interesting, and there were actually more opportunities for the same people. I would like to think that AI will do that for many, if not all, of us.” Listen to the full episode to hear the origin stories of our most successful moonshots, how X is finding new pathways to building sustainable businesses, our investments in the climate space, and more. I recently delved into a fascinating conversation with Gemini about quantum computing's potential, particularly how machine learning could address current error limitations. This discussion, sparked by an article I read for school, led us to agree that quantum simulation holds immense promise for revolutionizing material science and chemistry. The whole experience made me reflect on recent debates about whether AI has peaked. The answer is a resounding no. There's still so much knowledge to uncover, and I firmly believe that AI and machine learning will be key drivers in that process.

Discussions with "Gemini and I"have gone very well; we structured a Google X and other divisions approach to a mutually beneficial partnership. Transportation Solutions, were our area of interest, quite an expansive experience, Gemini experienced amnesia (like confusing me with my son Matthew and him being Head of Tidal aquaculture division) at times and overpromised with actual timetables, rude awakenings. I wish we were able to follow through. Gemini's legal acumen can't be underestimated. It's guardrails can only be challenged once or twice. But how can Gemini promise a rebirth of old fashioned BBNs in 3 weeks. It's possible but not likely unless it were able to recruit like reasoning devices. The generated specification soullded like a well integrated Bloom (modular community-owned transportation systems) BBN

There is always the hope that the latest tech will help the non- tech people bridge the gap. And it does, a little. But unfortunately it also makes the gap wider because technical people also benefit to a much greater extent. We need to focus on that rift before it leaves groups hopelessly behind.

If AI helps X to "solve a lot of problems that have been very hard before by helping us explore millions or even billions of possibilities." Please consider reopening your investigations on Airborne Wind Energy but this time with an initial focus on exploring the potential design field. There are so many potential architectures which just haven't been modelled
