We have won ClearlyRated's Best of Staffing for Women for 2024! “It’s a privilege and an honor to see the dedication to our women team members be recognized by winning ClearlyRated’s Best of Staffing for Women. Last year, we launched our female-focused ERG called Women of Horizontal Empowerment Network (WHEN), held an internal celebration of our working moms and implemented an education session to discuss intersectionality in the workplace and in our society. Not only did women find comfort in each other, in allies and in leadership -- but we all grew together. This is not an easy time to be a woman in the workforce. To pull from a little-known movie called Barbie, ‘It is literally impossible to be a woman. You have to be a boss, but you can't be mean. You have to lead, but you can't squash other people's ideas. As a woman working hard in a male-dominated industry, I am reminded today of the statement, "The higher you go, the less women you see." This statement resonates deeply with me as I navigate through challenges in a field where female representation is scarce the further you progress. Now asking myself and researching questions/ thoughts such as: - How will maternity leave or a career break impact my career advancement? - Can I achieve a work-life balance without compromising my career or family? - Where will we stand on the next International Women's Day celebration? To all the incredible women out there challenging norms, leading with resilience, and inspiring change - keep pushing boundaries, embracing your uniqueness, and showing the world that gender should never limit ambition or success. This #womenshistorymonth, let's challenge ourselves to reflect on lingering patriarchal practices in the workplace. Studies show women disproportionately take on "office housework". These are tasks such as: ⭕️ Taking notes ⭕️ Scheduling meetings ️ ⭕️ Planning parties or events ⭕️ Joining committees ⭕️ Presentation prep ⭕️ Printing copies ⭕️ Ordering lunch While these tasks are valuable, they rarely contribute directly to promotions or career advancement. This uneven distribution creates an extra burden on women and hinders their ability to reach their full potential. What can we do? While women can (and should!) feel empowered to say no to these tasks, the root of the issue lies in unconscious bias.
