To be a successful company, you need to address two key questions from your current employees and potential candidates: 1. Why should I join your company? 2. Why should I stay with your company? If you don't have a compelling answer to the second question, be prepared to answer the first one constantly.

Coming up with New Year’s resolutions for 2024? My one tip: Imagine yourself on December 31, 2024. You’re looking back at the year—and smiling at everything you’ve accomplished. What are you smiling at? Whether you want to lead a certain project, deliver a specific presentation, or get a promotion, find a “near peer,” someone who is just a few steps ahead of you, is invested in your success, and doesn’t see you as a threat. Then, ask for their advice! Try saying this: “At the top of my New Year’s resolutions list is to _____. I immediately thought of you, given that you’ve _____ and are the master of _____. Might you have a few minutes to chat? I’d love to follow in your footsteps!” Your win probably won’t happen overnight. Not everyone will say “yes.” But you just need one “yes” to get closer to looking back on 2024 and saying, “I did that!” Thank you to Monica Torres HuffPost for a fantastic article with New Year career tips by experts Jasmine Escalera, Ph.D, Jenny M Fernandez, MBA, 费 珍妮, Angela Karachristos, Cynthia Pong, JD, and Cynthia Shaw, Psy.D.
