🏆 A week full of enthusiasm, talent, pride. Which puts vocational training and its necessity for the European and global economy back at the centre. https://lnkd.in/e8JjrNsE 🏅 The WorldSkills Competition 2024, the vocational training Olympics, took place in Lyon with 1400 competitors, accompanied by supporters, coaches, teachers, tutors and hundreds of student delegations visiting from all over the world. Thousands of people, wearing national uniforms, from every corner of the world. 🥇 🥈 🥉 There were 59 competition disciplines, divided into macro-areas. For wood-furniture, students competed in the categories ‘Cabinet Making’, ‘Carpentry’, ‘Joinery’. Complex tasks, to be carried out alone or in pairs for a total of about 22 hours of competition, divided into three days. 🎯 A demanding challenge, requiring technical knowledge, emotional management, interpersonal skills and an excellent knowledge of English, in order to confront each other in the breaks with the tutors on hand. 🌉 For the rest, it is Olympic competition: a magical atmosphere, where the pride of being part of the event is felt every moment of the day. From the opening ceremony, with the parade of national delegations, to the competitions, to the award ceremonies. 📊 Numerous related conferences: the emergency of the lack of professionals and specialised technicians affects many sectors and Europe suffers from the lack of personnel more than other continents. 📍 More needs to be done: at national and regional level. Promoting participation in an event like this is a powerful tool to attract young people to professions where know-how is everything. And it gives priceless satisfaction.

As I reflect on 2023, it's been a year of substantial changes, both personally and professionally. Changing jobs has opened new doors and brought fresh perspectives, providing the perfect catalyst for growth. Working with diverse industries has been an exciting journey, broadening my skills and enriching my experience. Embracing change has also meant diving into new advertising platforms, a learning curve that's been both challenging and rewarding. I prefer steering clear of the term "New Year's Resolution" as it tends to create unnecessary pressure on perfection. Instead, I find setting quarterly goals more practical. Here are a few targets I've set for Q1 2024: ✨ Master GA4 and Google Tag Manager for a profound understanding. ✨ Devote at least 15 minutes each morning to plan out my day. ✨ Create a habit of reading a minimum of 10 pages from a book daily. The RBOA team is ready for 2024 and I am excited about embracing new learning opportunities this quarter! Who else is pursuing goals this quarter? I may or may not be looking for more ideas!

📸 Say 'EuroVelo'! ✨ We have just wrapped up the 11th edition of the European Certification Standard (ECS) training in Brussels. 34 participants from 17 countries are now official EuroVelo Route Inspectors! 📖 The activities included theoretical content to understand the methodology and the use of the app and a field trip on a bicycle to put all this new knowledge into practice.   💡 ECS is the European Cyclists' Federation's methodology to assess the quality of long-distance cycle routes. This exhilarating 48-hour challenge brought together diverse minds, all passionate about tackling global issues through creative solutions. Our team, united by a shared vision, brainstormed and developed AquaVision 1, an innovative solution designed to combat the challenge of bycatch in the fishing industry. The journey wasn't just about the competition; it was about collaboration, learning, and pushing boundaries. We leveraged each other's strengths, fostering a spirit of camaraderie that fueled our innovation. Working tirelessly over the weekend paid off as we secured the 1st place prize and the recognition of "Best Prototype Design", validating our dedication and the potential of AquaVision 1. This triumph serves as evidence to the unparalleled power of collaboration as a tool to stimulate innovation in engineering. I express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this IFTP event which will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience. Huge thanks to Ms. Lana Ladki , the IFTP organizing team, and our remarkable faculty mentors for their incredible support and guidance throughout the competition.
