Did you know that? 👇 A Mexican by name of Enrique Corcuera is believed to be the founder of padel - by accident 😁 How did he came up with the idea? Well, Corcuera built a court to play tennis at his home in Acapulco in the late 1960s. Not long after, he found that if tennis balls were overhit, which was the case most of the time, they would go all over the place and into neighbouring houses. To prevent this from happening, Corcuera figured, why not surround the court with fences on all sides 💡 However, with these adjustments in place, he still faced some problems as normal tennis rackets generated too much power for the small court 💥 Corcuera and his friends eventually exchanged their tennis rackets for a wooden beach paddle bat. Later, a rulebook evolved, which allowed the players to play off walls, and the rest is history! Fast forward to 2024 where padel has become one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide. More and more people are finding their way to padel courts because of the intrinsic dynamic and social nature of the sport. The sport is also growing steadily at the professional level where competing tours Premier Padel and World Padel Tour agreed to merge to unify under one professional circuit, called Premier Padel🤝 In addition to both professional and grassroots padel, businesses have also tapped into the thrill of the sport for team-building outings and networking events. Is friendship with "exes" possible? It is a difficult question with no clear answer. But if the "ex" calls to play ping-pong or bowling, I will definitely participate! 😀 Well, the "BCN Hotel Games 2023" are over. I ran a mini-marathon, and played table tennis and bowling for InterContinental Barcelona team. And we had a lot of fun there! As for myself, communication with colleagues " without a uniform" is an incredible opportunity to see people from the other side. There are answers to many questions, such as: "Who is next to me 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week?". And it turns out that my colleagues are much more open-minded and outgoing people than they seem at work.  Such events are extremely helpful for rallying the working team, as they help to understand that there are humans around me instead of just "hard professionals". Someone has a big and friendly family that goes to cheer for papá. Maybe someone who has a passion for sports, an enthusiastic person, and so on... Thanks to the organizers for the excellent opportunity to demonstrate our talents and communicate with colleagues in a "no-tie session". #teamwork

PADEL PARTNERSHIPS: Helping to grow an amazing sport in the US Padel is picking up steam in the US, and it has been very interesting to see the variety of collaborations that are taking place. Padel has arrived in the US and is here to stay, but world wide the sport has been thriving for years, and there are an abundance of companies that have been building the courts - predominantly from Spain, but there are numerous companies from other countries that are having tremendous success as well. Many of these companies have a decade, even decades, of experience constructing courts. The US is in it's infancy in comparison, with just a few companies that actually manufacture their own courts. What the US does have is the businesses, entrepreneurs and investors who contribute their local market expertise, vision and resources to develop and promote the sport in various communities.
