I had the opportunity to join experts for a one-hour TV roundtable as part of WorkingNation #AgeInAmerica series with Scripps News. We delved into the root causes of ageism and how it can hinder older and midcareer workers from securing promotions or getting hired in the first place. As we approach a historic milestone—where people aged 65 and older will outnumber children 18 and younger—it's crucial for employers to adapt. Watch the clip to see how we at AARP are working to address ageism and helping companies create a more inclusive workplace: http://spr.ly/6041WK9mT #Inclusion #FightAgeism #AgeDiscrimination

Carly Roszkowski There is saying it and measuring it. Attached is a hire age graph from DC. I request hire-ages across cities, states, provinces, countries and create the graphs. All the graphs are the same and systemic, year after year: hire the 20s and then a steep decline from there. Through technology, a new place can be created for accumulated knowledge and the accumulated bigger picture of the 50+. The free solution is on my LinkedIn page.

I had seen many youngsters with unhealthy lifestyle contribute pennies while someone ahead of them in years with healthy lifestyle and well groomed/imbibed habits contribute lot more thoughtfully. I had heard this even in medical professions where junior graduates prescribe high does of medicine for an ailment that can be tackled better with little thought.

Ageism is definitely happening, and not new. In 2016, I was on an interview panel and watched a older, experienced woman lose the job to a younger, inexperienced woman. This creates extra costs for companies, as in this case the woman they hired ended up not being able to do the job, and they had to hire again six months later.

I experienced this several times. Now I'm retired and no longer have to deal with this BS.
