🌟 Team Meet-Up Success! 🌟 This June, our incredible team at Datahut gathered for an unforgettable meet-up, bringing together talent from every corner of our organization. Colleagues from tech, marketing, hr and various other departments joined forces for a day filled with collaboration, learning, and fun. 🚀 The Importance of Team Meet-Ups: Team meet-ups play a crucial role in fostering a strong organizational culture. Last week some of the Crewjoy team was at INNOVATEwest, a technology and innovation-focused event in Vancouver. For me there were many outcomes from attending, and one of them was seeing the various parts of a team operating in unison. ✳ This is a picture of my co-founder Josh, who is not normally the face of our company, representing Crewjoy in a recorded interview conversation. ✳ He's talking with Andrea Bischoff, representing one of our partners avantage, about how Crewjoy is supporting their process of building high-performing consulting teams. ✳ Somewhere in the background is Shiela, our Community Manager, sparking great conversations about how Crewjoy is using AI to build more human-focused workplaces where engagement, joy, and productivity skyrocket. ✳ I could be found building new relationships with partners and customers. Often with individuals brought over by Trevor Kray of Avantage, after he helped them strategize on their pressing business challenges. ✳ And we were privileged to be partnering at the event with friends like Accelerate Okanagan, The Mullings Group (Search Canada), Tourism Kelowna, and Interpix Design Inc. I mention all of this not as a description of what we've been up to, but because of how an event like this is a great microcosm of a healthy and productive team: Each person or part working in tandem with the others for shared success. That's what this felt like, and it's what we hope every team can experience. All of these people, partners, and activities activating strengths to better achieve outcomes. This was one event where that happened, but for our (and any) team to succeed, it needs to be happening all the time. That's what we built Crewjoy for! This week is #GetOnlineWeek by Good Things Foundation and it’s got me thinking about how I stay connected across continents. Moving to Australia in 2018, I knew keeping in touch with my family and friends back home would be a challenge. But thanks to the digital world, staying connected feels easier than ever, even though I’m on the other side of the globe. FaceTime has become my lifeline for watching my nieces and nephews grow up. It’s amazing how they know who I am, despite the distance, because we’ve built a relationship through regular video calls. Platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are my go-to for keeping in touch, sharing memories, and catching up. One of my favourite traditions is the “Wednesday Waffle” – every Wednesday, my closest friends and I send each other a video update about our week. It’s such a great way to stay in the loop without worrying about time zone differences, especially when FaceTime doesn’t always line up. Before the internet, it could take months to send a letter from the UK to Australia – around 2-3 months, depending on the year. I can’t imagine waiting that long for updates now! Digital tools don’t just help with my personal life; they’re essential for my work with Phoenix Group and in the corporate world too. Whether it’s video conferencing with colleagues, sharing documents, or staying organised with apps like Teams and Outlook, I rely on technology every day to stay productive and in the loop. Life on the other side of the world can be tough, but without today’s digital capabilities, it would be even harder. I’m grateful that technology allows me to keep connected, both personally and professionally, no matter the distance. ✨ This month, on Friday, I’ll share my ‘Good Vibe of the Week’, as a positive end to the week! 😊 For this week, it’s about meeting new, kind and amazingly talented people! 🖖 A few weeks ago, I joined asynco.org, a community set up by Luis Suarez and Cathryn Barnard 🌔, designed to connect people who want to make the world of work a better place, specifically the world of work that doesn’t necessarily take place in an office between 9am and 5pm. The community is still growing, but so far it has already been quality over quantity. One of the highlights of my week was my virtual coffee with the lovely Beth Salyers, Ph.D. on Wednesday afternoon, who is based in New Orleans in the USA, and what for me was the end of the working day, was her start of the day! No matter how much I embrace global working, that will never cease to amaze me! We had never met before, but when she joined Asynco, she extended a general invitation to the community for her ‘100 Convos in August Challenge’, and trying to be a bit more ‘adventurous’ when it comes to meeting people, I decided to book a Convo in! Even though I love meeting with and talking to people about anything cool, nice and exciting, it's always difficult for me to take that first step with someone you've NEVER met (IRL or Online), but from the first minute it felt like we had already talked many times before, and hopefully there are more times to come! We talked about anything from learning and development to attitudes to work, and from growing hops to memes on the internet, and would you believe that even the latter were actually related to how we experience the workplace, what we want to do in our day jobs to facilitate the things that we love doing outside of work? 📍Woohoo, what an awesome week it has been! 📍As one of the selected candidate in the ALX Virtual Assistant program, I'm still grinning from ear to ear after an incredible lineup of events.😁😄 Let me share some interesting highlights that stood out for me⤵️ 1. Navigating the ALX portal was like unlocking a treasure trove of knowledge.🌻 2. Learning about the ALX values and code of conduct on Savanna made me feel part of a community that truly care🌹🤗 3. Getting to know LEA, the ALX online assistant, was like having a personal genie in a bottle with all of my questions answered in a jiffy!💃🏼💃🏼 4. Connecting with my peers in the ALX community was the icing on the cake — we're all in this together! 💪🏼 📍But here's the cherry on top — I had a personal 'aha' moment this week that made me realize just how much value this program is presents to me. I was struggling to understand a concept, and LEA helped me out.😄 📍Then, I connected with a peer who shared her own experience and insights. Suddenly, the puzzle pieces clicked! 📍That's when it hit me — this program isn't just about learning new skills; it's about building a support system, a community that lifts each other up. And in itself, is that's priceless! 🍀☘️🎀 📍So, here's to an amazing week ahead and many more to come! I'm still very available to connect. At Speexx, remote and hybrid work models have been the new normal for a while now. But like many companies, we spend a lot of time thinking about how company culture can thrive when there are less "water-cooler moments". Our main take-away: you need to create and encourage opportunities for employees to meet and connect in person. Which is precisely why we have company off-sites, workshops, local events, team events etc. So of course when Oktoberfest is on our doorstep, in the German business unit we seize the opportunity to come together to strengthen relationships, foster team spirit, and remind ourselves that, no matter where we work, it's the people collaborating in teams that drive our success. It's moments like our Octoberfest team event yesterday that keep us connected and aligned, fueling collaboration and growth (although perhaps less so, the day after ;)).
