Is this the future of 3D Mapping? Traditional mission planning software typically offers only a 2D base map. But what if you need a 3D model of a structure? Using DJI's Flight Hub 2 cloud mapping feature, we created a base 3D model for our flight planning. This provided a reference point to design a more precise mission for a higher resolution model. However, please note that the slope route planning for the underbelly of the bridge is currently not functional. We hope DJI is working on enabling this feature soon. When it comes to thermal 3D modelling, it's pretty difficult to achieve: you're working with less pixels than a typical RGB camera (0.3MP compared to 12MP+) and physics are against you - depending on the surface material attributes and the angle from the angle of incidence, this can all affect the appearance of a thermal image and the temperature data within. The video below, by CZI Chengzhi Intelligence, was created using their new payload, the DT1K, which has a 1280x1024 resolution detector, which provides more data for DJI Terra to work with and produce the below 3D model. This isn't radiometric, but it does provide context and enough information for qualitative analysis.
