Today is World Suicide Prevention Day 🤍
Sadly, many of us will have been touched by suicide in one way or another during our lives.
As an employer or HR professional, it is very likely that you will need to support an employee who is suffering from a mental health challenge, or is even at risk of suicide. How we deal with these situations can have a huge impact on the persons’ recovery, and the impact on them and their families.
As well as providing support internally, through good practices and procedures; ensuring employees and managers have received mental health training; and providing support such as counselling or an Employee Assistance Programme. The following link provides details of many charities who can help and support with different areas:

This CIPD guide to responding to a suicide risk in the workplace, also provides comprehensive and useful information around suicide prevention, and also responding to the situation where an employee has sadly taken their own life:

These situations can be incredibly difficult for everyone involved, make sure you reach out for support and guidance on the best way to help, and also seek support for yourself if needed.
